Additional Information

    • In 1871, my great-grandmother (aged 2) was living with her parents, William and Eliza, with her sister Minnie and her cousin Eliza Lovell, at 9 Schofield Terrace, Kings Road, Chelsea, London.
    • William (aged 27) was a carpenter and he was born in Feltham, Middlesex.
    • Eliza (the mother, aged 24) was born in Hounslow, Middlesex.
    • Eliza F (my great-grandmother) was aged 2 and born in Feltham, Middlesex, whereas Minnie (aged 3 months) was born in Hounslow, Middlesex.
    • Eliza Lovell, niece to Eliza (the mother), was born in Reading, Berkshire and was aged 14.
  • 1881 Census
    • In 1881, Eliza (preferring her second name, Fanny) and her sister Minnie were living with their grandparents, George and Mary Lodge, and their daughters Emily and Fanny in Lower Feltham, Middlesex, presumably after the death of their mother a few years earlier.
    • George (aged 57) was a Market Gardener and born in Feltham, Middlesex.
    • Mary (aged 62) was born in Londonderry, Ireland, and their daughters, Emily (aged 33) and Fanny (aged 30) were both born in Feltham, Middlesex. They all seemed to help out in the family business.
    • Fanny (my great-grandmother, aged 12) and Minnie (aged 10) are listed as scholars, so presumably they attended school, and whilst Fanny's birthplace is listed as Feltham, Middlesex, Minnie's is Hounslow, Middlesex.
  • 1891 Census
    • In 1891, Fanny was working as a 'general domestic servant' at the home of Henry Warner Whyman and his wife Emily at 231 Hammersmith Road, Hammersmith, London.
    • Henry (aged 35) was a basket maker from St John's Wood, Middlesex.

All were born in Isleworth, Middlesex expect the younger two children, who were born in Hammersmith, London.
    • Fanny, aged 22, has her place of birth listed as Hounslow, Middlesex.
    • Interestingly, the property next door was Latymer School, with the schoolmaster Thomas William Pledger, his wife Susannah, and daughter Ethel.
  • 1901 Census
    • in 1901, Fanny E (aged 28) is now married to Charles Abraham (aged 25) and living at Woodfield Lane, Ashtead, Surrey. She is listed as the manageress of a grocery store, whilst he is the manager of a 'Corn and Coal' store. Her place of birth is now Feltham, Middlesex, whilst his is Bermondsey, London.
  • 1911 Census
    • On Monday 3 April 1911, my great-grandmother (aged 38) was living with her husband, Charles Abraham, and her two sons, Harry Charles (my grandfather) and his younger brother, Kenneth in Woodfield Lane, Ashtead, Surrey. She was born in Feltham, Middlesex. They had been married for 13 years.
    • Charles Abraham (aged 35) was a Corn Merchant and manager of his own store, and was born in Bermondsey, London.
    • Harry Charles (aged 7) and Kenneth (aged 4) were both born in Ashtead, Surrey.
    • The property, which presumably included the store, had four rooms listed as 'dwelling space'.
