Will live in strange times, but the future can be both scary and exciting.
I look forward to the new challenges that lie ahead of me.
Teaching has been more than just a career; it is a vocation. I have been in the profession now for 27 years, in a range of Independent schools in Surrey, Kent and London. For the last 20+ years I have been involved in the Secondary Schools Selection Process at 11+, preparing pupils and building up a reputation for being quite the expert.
I have also become quite the authority on teaching Mathematics and Reasoning for school transfer, and often staff and colleagues ask for my advice and help in these critical examination areas. My assemblies are also legendary...
I love gardening: I wouldn't say I was particularly good at it or knowledgable, but it is a great escape from the the daily grind. I have a little garden with a pond, a variety of plants and flowers, and a small patio area. I am keen to spend more time tending to nature's needs, and my efforts are certainly not going unnoticed.
I began tracing my family tree in 1999, and I have to date located over 4000 ancestors.
Writing has also been something I've always dabbled in over the years, with a number of books published and a few more in the pipeline.
I regularly explore the variety of online courses that are available.
I maintain a list of what I have completed on this website, in case anyone is interested to hearing about how a particular course.
I'm continuing to explore my family tree, and I am slowly making this available on this website.
It is so enjoyable to plough through all the documents, photographs and evidence I have collated over the past 20+ years, and reconnect with my ancestors as I do so.
It is also good to double check some of my facts as there are more resources available online now to help discover the past.
I will definitely share some of my own writing here - both fiction and non-fiction.
Who knows, perhaps I'll get something publish in the future...one can only dream!
